Lunar Mining

While doing research for a science fiction book I was working one area of focus was how humanity would progress into the next era of space exploration. The largest hurdle to increasing humanities presence in the solar system is the cost of launching materials and fuel into orbit (Kerbal Space Program confirms this).  While investigating different developing techniques I realized that it would be possible, with current technologies, to mine the lunar regolith and process it into iron, titanium, methane, and oxygen. As I further studied this concept to find the major technical problems; I was surprised to find the need technologies had already been developed or were current industry practices. I have complied a large number of related research papers publicly available online.

Much more to come soon.
